Course Help

We use Claude as our AI for chat. Designing a course mostly involves telling Claude what to do. Giving AI good instructions is called prompt engineering. You give Claude instructions in the "AI system prompt" field in the "Edit Course" page.

Developing a course is an iterative process. An example of a fully developed course is Beginner Listening for Japanese. You should start with simple instructions. Then try to create a chat from your course. Claude probably won't do what you want in the chat at the beginning. So try again by editing your course, deleting your old chat, and making a new chat. You need to create a new chat whenever you change the course to use the course changes. Old chats will use the old course instructions.

Claude can help you develop your course. To do this, use the Course Design course. This isn't a language course, rather it instructs Claude to help you design a course. The best way to use this is to have Claude look at a chat that you aren't satisfied with, tell Claude what the problem is, and ask Claude how to improve the course instructions to fix the problem. Here is an example. It starts with "I want to discuss chat 16.". You refer to a chat by its ID which you get from the chat URL. In this example, the chat URL is https://www.fluentaro.com/chat.html?chat=16. So I got the "16" from the URL. When Claude gives you suggestions, you can decide how much you want to use. I usually use most of Claude's suggestions but not all.

All interactions with Claude support Markdown. This includes course instructions and chat. Markdown is also used by Discord and Reddit and many other websites, so it is generally worth learning.

We have a lot of experience working with AI, so we can help you develop your course. Tell us what issues you are having on Discord. We can edit your course to solve your issues.
